2016 AFC Cup: Kaya FC blanks Balestier Khalsa to stay ahead of Group F
Alfred Osei (16) scored the opening goal in Kaya's 3-0 win over Singaporean side Balestier Khalsa, Tuesday evening
Playing in front of a Singaporean crowd was no problem for Kaya FC, as they blasted through home team Balestier Khalsa, 3-0, Tuesday evening at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
It didn’t take long for the visiting Pinoy side to get going, as Alfred Osei scored within fifteen minutes of the match to give Kaya FC an early 1-0 advantage.
Just ten minutes later, Azkal Kenshiro Daniels doubled the Kaya lead and making it a bit harder for the home team to mount a comeback.
The final touch came from substitute Louis Clark, who knocked in Kaya’s third goal in the 73rd minute of action.
The home team would not be able to find a conversion, and Kaya gets the better of Balestier Khalsa once more, but it would be a far cry from their 1-0 meeting earlier this year.
The win keeps Kaya at the top of the Group F standings with three wins and one loss for nine points, while Hong Kong’s Kitchee and Balestier Khalsa are behind, with seven points and four points respectively.
Maldivian club New Radiant SC remains at the bottom of the heap with two points on two draws.
The UFL Cup champs take one step closer to breaking into the Knockout Stage, and a couple of wins would definitely secure their ticket.
Up next for Kaya is a chance to get back at the only team to beat them, Kitchee. They meet at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex on Tuesday, April 26.
