OJ Porteria and KAYA FC are looking to advance into the Knockout Stage of the 2016 AFC Cup
Pinoy side KAYA FC will be gunning for a win against Maldivian club New Radiant SC to ensure entry into the 2016 AFC Cup Knockout Stage, Tuesday evening at the National Football Stadium in Male.
Currently sitting at second place with nine points, KAYA FC has a really good chance of making it into the next round, but of course three points would no doubt make those chances even better.
After starting their AFC Cup campaign with a loss, the Filipino club racked off three straight wins, propelling them to the top of Group F, before falling in their most recent outing against Hong Kong side Kitchee SC, relinquishing their place at the top.
Positioned at the bottom of the group, the eliminated New Radiant has struggled throughout the competition, only figuring in two draws and three losses in five matches played.
In their last meeting, KAYA defeated New Radiant, 1-0, courtesy of a late goal from OJ Porteria.
Another win over New Radiant tonight, and KAYA improves to four wins, two losses, and 12 points, a draw gets them ten points.
Should KAYA win and Kitchee and Singapore’s Balestier Khalsa figure in a draw, KAYA finishes at the top of Group F. Should Balestier Khalsa win, KAYA still holds on to the top spot. Should Kitchee win, they take the top spot, and KAYA drops to second place, but still qualify for the Knockout Stage.
Should KAYA settle for a draw, a Balestier Khalsa win keeps them even with Kitchee, while a Kitchee win keeps KAYA in second place.
