MOVING ON. KAYA FC heads to the Knockout Stage after finishing second in Group F of the 2016 AFC Cup Group Stage
Pinoy club KAYA FC booked a spot in the 2016 AFC Cup Round of 16 after holding Maldives' New Radiant SC to a scoreless draw, Tuesday evening at the National Football Stadium in Male.
The visiting Pinoy side had a couple of good opportunites to break the deadlock, with tries coming from Shirmar Felongco and Antonio Ugarte, but had no luck in converting.
The home squad had some clean looks as well, but couldn't get anything past KAYA keeper Nick O'Donnell.
After 90 minutes, the score would stand, and the Pinoy squad booked a ticket to the Knockout Stage.
KAYA FC had a bit of help though, as Group F leaders Kitchee dominated Balestier Khalsa, 4-0, to keep them away from the second seed.
Kaya joins Ceres-La Salle as one of the first Filipino football clubs to advance into the AFC Cup Round of 16.
They take on Group H winners Johor Darul Ta'zim of Malaysia on May 25 at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Baru.
