Ceres-La Salle among three unbeaten teams in 2016 AFC Cup
UNBLEMISHED. Ceres-La Salle went unbeaten in six AFC Cup Group Stage matches, along with only two other teams in the tournament

Aside from the distinction of being the first club in Pinoy football history to advance to the Knockout Stage of the AFC Cup, and the first Pinoy club to finish at the top of their group, Ceres-La Salle also the honor of being among only three teams to go unbeaten in the Group Stage.

In six matches played, the Bacolod-based club finished with three wins (twice against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi, once against Tampines Rovers) and three draws (twice against Selangor FA, once against Tampines Rovers) for a total of 12 tournament points.

The other two clubs to do so were Bahrain's Al-Muharraq SC and Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim.

Bahraini champions Al-Muharraq dominated Group D of the 2016 AFC Cup, recording five wins and only one draw, while Malaysian powerhouse Johor Darul swept Group H with six wins in six matches.

Naturally, all three teams finished at the top of their groups and will participate in the Knockout Stage to see if they get to continue their AFC Cup campaigns.

The Round of 16 begins on May 24, with our very own Pinoy clubs Ceres-La Salle and KAYA FC looking to advance.
