Global FC, Ceres-La Salle join 2016 Singapore Cup

Pinoy football powerhouses Global FC and Ceres-La Salle FC will be joining the 2016 RHB Singapore Cup
Two Pinoy clubs will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming RHB Singapore Cup, beginning May 26.
Reigning UFL Cup champions Global FC, who competed in the 2015 edition and made it all the way to the semifinals, will be returning for this year’s tournament.
Joining “The People’s Club” will be the reigning UFL champions Ceres-La Salle FC, who just recently wrapped up their historic 2016 AFC Cup run, becoming the first Filipino football club to make it to the tournament’s Round of 16.
Completing the 12-team Singapore cup pool are nine clubs from the S.League, including league-leading Albirex Niigata Singapore, Tampines Rovers, and Balestier Khalsa. Cambodian club Nagaworld FC was also invited to participate in the 2016 Singapore Cup.
Global FC opens their campaign in the preliminary round against Nagaworld FC, with the winner advancing into the quarterfinals against Tampines Rovers, while Ceres-La Salle meets Young Lions in the preliminary round, with the winner meeting Brunei DPMM in the quarters.
In the 2015 edition of the tournament, Global FC joined Albirex Niigata, Brunei DPMM, and Home United in the semifinals.
Albirex Niigata and Home United met in the finals, with Albirex Niigata winning, 2-1.
