One day removed from their stunning comeback win over home team Laos, the Philippine Under-14 Girls National Team once again staged a comeback to hold powerhouse Thailand to a 2-2 draw in the AFC Under-14 Girls Regional Championship at the Chao Anouvong Stadium in Vientiane, Laos.
Midfielder Katelyn Alexander gave the Pinay girls an early lead, scoring in the 13th minute, but that wouldn’t last long, as Thai captain Chatchawan Rodthong found an equalizer right before halftime.
The Thais would take the lead in the second half, courtesy of a 42nd minute goal from Ploychompoo Somnonk.
Alexander would provide the heroics for the Philippines, completing a brace after netting the equalizer in the sixth minute of injury time.
The draw keeps the Philippines close with Thailand at the top of Group A, both teams having four points in two matches played. Thailand holds a very slim single goal advantage in Goal Difference.
The Philippine girls end their Group Stage campaign on Thursday, June 2, with a match against Cambodia.
