Team captain Carleigh Frilles led the way, Saturday evening at the Chao Anouvong Stadium, Vientiane, Laos, scoring a hat trick and helping the Philippine Girls U-14 National Team demolish Myanmar, 5-1, to book a spot in the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championships.
Trinity Wambolt got the show started early, scoring in the 12th minute, but the advantage didn’t last too long, as Myanmar’s Myat Noe Khin found the equalizer just seven minutes later.
That would happen to be the first and last goal that Myanmar would score, as the Pinay girls went to work in the second half, with Frilles hitting the first of her trifecta in the 37th minute.
Frilles would follow up in the 55th minute with her second goal of the night, and Maria Lazo would kick in one of her own as well just three minutes later to make it a 4-1 advantage.
The final blow would come from Frilles, who found an open lane to her third goal of the night in the 67th minute to all but secure the win.
The Philippines now gets ready for history as they book a seat in the Finals, against Thailand, who defeated home team Vietnam, 2-0 in the semis.
Earlier this week, the Philippines held Thailand to a 2-2 draw in the Group Stage, courtesy of a brace from Katelyn Alexander.
