The Philippine Malditas had a rough start to their 2016 AFF Women's Championship campaign, dropping their opening Group A match against Thailand, 4-0, Tuesday at the Mandalarthiri Stadium in Mandalay, Myanmar.
The Thai ladies controlled the match from the get-go, with Pitsamai Sornsai opening the scoring in the 21st minute.
Sornsai would leave her stamp on the first half, doubling the Thailand lead just ten minutes later to complete the early brace and give her team a comfy lead heading into the midgame break.
The Thai ladies showed no signs of letting up in the second half, with Kanjana Sungngoen hitting in the 49th minute to stretch the lead even further.
The final blow came from Rattikan Thongsombut, who converted in the 67th minute.
The Malditas will have an opportunity to bounce back on Thursday against Vietnam, who's coming off a 14-point destruction of Singapore in their opening match.
