The Philippine Malditas have been eliminated from the 2016 AFF Women’s Championships after suffering their second straight loss, Wednesday at the Mandalarthiri Stadium in Mandalay.

After losing their opener to Thailand, the Philippine women’s national team lost to Vietnam, also to the tune of 0-4.

Midfielder Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Dung was the bright spot for the Vietnamese squad, scoring in both halves (30’, 71’) for the brace, while Nguyễn Thị Hòa (7’) and Nguyễn Thị Minh Nguyệt (80’) added conversions of their own.

The Malditas have one more chance to head back home on a positive note, as they try to get their first win of the tournament against the also-eliminated Singaporean national team on Saturday, July 30.

Singapore opened their campaign with a 0-14 loss to Vietnam, and followed that up with an 0-8 outing against Thailand.
