Azkals seek redemption against North Korea
Iain Ramsay and the Azkals look to take down North Korea on the pitch once again.
For the second time in four days, the Philippine men's national football team take to the Rizal Memorial Stadium pitch, as they host North Korea in another international friendly match, Monday evening.
This time around however, the Azkals head into the match with redemption on their minds after falling to Bahrain, 1-3, just last Friday.
Defensive miscues and lapses in transitioning led to the Pinoy side's downfall, something that hopefully has been addressed in time for Monday's matchup.
The Azkals will also be playing shorthanded, as they are expected to miss the services of starter Misagh Bahadoran, who sustained an injury in the second half of the Bahrain match.
One bright spot from the Bahrain match was the arrival of young Mike Ott, who made a dream debut, scoring the lone goal for the Pinoy side. Curious eyes will be on him as he hopes to pick up from where he left off.
The visiting North Korea side will also be looking to bounce back after a 5-2 loss to Vietnam, October 6th.
The Azkals have had some good fortune against North Korea lately. In their first World Cup Qualifiers matchup back in 2015, the Azkals managed to hold the home squad to a scoreless draw. The Azkals then went on to defeat North Korea at home, 3-2 to close out their World Cup Qualifiers campaign back in March.
The Azkals will try to defend home turf against North Korea once again on Monday, October 10, 8:00 PM at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. Watch it LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/azkals. Catch the telecast at 9:00 PM on ABS-CBN S+A and ABS-CBN S+A HD
