Red Booters share lead in 10-0 drubbing of Generals
San Beda College gave Emilio Aguinaldo College a terrible whipping to take a share of the lead.

Games Thursday:

(Rizal Memorial Football Field)

9:00 a.m.- Arellano U vs St. Benilde (srs)

11:00 a.m.- San Beda vs LPU (srs)

1:00 p.m.- Mapua vs EAC (srs)

San Beda overpowered Emilio Aguinaldo College, 10-0, to jump into a share of second with College of St. Benilde in the 92nd NCAA seniors football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Football Field in Manila.

Ralph Estephen Abriol came through with a hat trick early, connecting on the second, fifth and 17th minute to set the tone for the easy victory for the Red Booters, who jumped to joint second alongside the Blazers with nine points apiece.

Aljo Paul Zabala and Nimrod Balabat contributed a brace each while Mark Den Castillo and Elnie Dorimon accounted for San Beda's other goals to complete the lopsided triumph for San Beda, the league's most titled squad with 37 -- 21 in the seniors' division and 16 in juniors play.

Arellano University, meanwhile, edged Lyceum of the Philippines University, 2-1, to seize the solo lead with 12 points.

Earlier, St. Benilde trounced Perpetual Help, 4-0, to stay at No. 2.

Despite the one-sided win, San Beda coach Michael Pediamonte was disappointed his team failed to match St. Benilde's output when the latter smashed the same EAC side, 13-1, a few days back.

"I was hoping we could match the 13 goals St. Benilde scored against EAC because we knew it would matter in the end," said Pediamonte in Filipino. "We had so many chances to do that but we just couldn't convert."

The Generals fell to their third straight defeat.
