Global FC's AFC Champions's League dreams have come to an end after falling to Australian side Brisbane Roar, 6-0, Tuesday evening at the Brisbane Stadium, Brisban Australia.
The home-side went to work early, with winger Brandon Borello scoring a hat-trick within the first 30 minutes of the match.
Spanish winger Manuel Arana added a conversion of his own in the 37th minute to send the Roar into halftime with a comfortable 4-0 advantage.
The second half wasn't any easier for the visiting Pinoy side, as Arana completed his brace in the 65th minute, while Borello scored his fourth and final goal in with ten minutes left in regulation for a 6-0 final score in favor of the Aussie club.
With the big win, Brisbane advances into the playoff round, where they meet Chinese club Shanghai Shenua. The winner will secure a spot in Group E of the 2017 AFC Champions League group stages.
Global FC fans need not fret however, as they'll be heading to the 2017 AFC Cup, along with Bacolod-based club Ceres-Negros FC.
Last year, Ceres-Negros, then known as Ceres-La Salle FC made history by becoming the first Pinoy club to advance into the AFC Cup Round of 16, and they did it in style, finishing the group stages at the top of their group.
Global FC on the other hand, was the first Pinoy club to qualify for the AFC Cup back in 2015.
This year, both Global FC and Ceres-Negros FC will try to make even more history by going for the AFC Cup championship.
