Ateneo, FEU try to tighten hold on playoff spots
Jarvey Gayoso and the Ateneo Blue Eagles try to keep their spot at the top of the UAAP men's football standings

MATCHES on SATURDAY, APRIL 1 (Rizal Memorial Football Stadium)

3:00 PM - FEU vs. UE (Men's)

5:00 PM - Adamson vs. Ateneo (Men's)

League-leading Ateneo de Manila looks to tighten their hold on the top spot, as they take on Adamson University in UAAP Season 79 men's football action, Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

With eight wins and two draws in ten matches played, the Blue Eagles have already clinched a spot in the post season, but with four games remaining in the season, the next goal for the Katipunan side would be to keep hold of the top seed and keep their unbeaten slate intact.

On the opposite end of the standings are the Adamson Falcons, who have managed only one win in ten matches played. While the playoffs ship has sailed for the Falcons, they try to end the season on a strong note as they head back to the drawing board, hopefully with something strong to build on for the next season.

Ateneo and Adamson battle at 5:00 PM.

In the earlier match of the afternoon, Far Eastern University also tries to keep their hold on the third seed when they take on University of the East.

After failing to make the playoffs last season, FEU has come back with a vengeance in Season 79, and after a strong start, the former back-to-back champs were able to keep themselves at the upper half of the standings. While they've slowed down a bit in the second round, the Tams still own the third seed, and a win will create more distance between them and fourth-seeders NU.

At the start of the second round of the season, the Red Warriors were riding high after a win and a big draw against FEU, keeping them in play for a spot at the post season. Unfortunately, UE couldn't sustain their momentum, dropping a bunch of matches and falling further in the standings. The Red Warriors however, try to end their campaign on a high note, starting with a win against the Tams.

FEU and UE clash at 3:00 PM.
