It was a good weekend for Metro Manila-based squads, as FC Meralco Manila and JPV Marikina FC scored wins in Philippines Football League (PFL) action.

FC Meralco Manila jumped out to the top of the PFL standings after dispatching Ilocos United FC, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, to notch their second straight win.

Ilocos United got on the board first in the 13th minute courtesy of an opening goal from Graham Caygill, but it only took five minutes for the home team to pull even, thanks to an equalizer from Tyler Matas.

JPV Marikina FC on the other hand, gave Davao Aguilas FC an unpleasant home debut, with the visitors scoring a 3-2 win at the Davao Del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum, Sunday afternoon.

Boyet Canedo's free kick conversion in the 20th minute put JPV Marikina on top once again heading into halftime.

An late conversion from Takumi Uesato essentially iced the match for JPV Marikina, pushing the visitors' lead to 3-1 in the 84th minute.

A penalty conversion in the second minute of injury time gave De Bruycker a brace and helped Aguilas pull to within one goal back, but JPV Marikina ultimately came away with the win in front of 4,384-strong in Tagum.

JPV Marikina improves to one win and one loss for three points, while Davao Aguilas drops to one draw and one loss for one point.
