The Azkas fell to China in an international friendly
The Philippine Azkals had a pretty rough outing Wednesday night, as they fell to the China PR men's national football team, 8-1, in an international friendly match at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China.
The visiting Filipino side simply had no answer for the higher-ranked China squad, who got off to an early start courtesy of defender Ren Hang, who scored three minutes into the match.
Xiao Zhi doubled the China lead in the 25th minute, but the Azkals managed to pull one back in the 33rd minute thanks to a Misagh Bahadoran conversion, trimming the lead to just a single goal.
Unfortunately for the Pinoy side, that would be the only goal that they would be able to muster.
China on the other hand, was just getting started.
Yu Hanchao ended the first half with China's third goal, scoring in the 43rd minute, while Wang Yongpo and Yin Hongbo kicked the second half off with back to back goals in the 54th and 57th minutes respectively to put China ahead, 5-1.
Zhang Xizhe joined the scoring party in the 68th minute, while Deng Hanwen added a brace, scoring in the 71st and 90th minutes respectively to finish the match with an 8-1 tally in favor of the home team.
The Azkals will need to regroup quickly, as they'll be heading to Dushanbe to resume their AFC Asian Cup qualifiers campaign against the Tajikistan national team on Tuesday, June 13th.
