Filipino football club Ceres Negros FC blanked visiting Singaporean side Home United, 2-0, in the second leg of their 2017 AFC Cup Zonal finals, Wednesday evening at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod to ultimately win 3-2 on aggregate and become the ASEAN Zone champions.
It didn't take long for the home side to score, in fact, it only took OJ Porteria two minutes to put the Busmen ahead by a goal.
Forty minutes later, Manny Ott joined the scoring party and doubled Ceres Negros lead via a well-placed free kick just before the midgame break.
The Busmen managed to hold on to the two-goal advantage, which was all that they needed to overtake Home United on aggregate.
The journey is far from over for the Pride of Negros, Bacolod however, as they advance to the Inter-zone semifinals, where they take on Tajikistan's Istiklol FC.
The first leg will be on August 22nd at the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe, while the second leg will be on September 12th back in Panaad.
