MATCHES on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16

4:00 PM - Kaya Makati FC vs. JPV Marikina (University of Makati)

4:00 PM - Ceres Negros FC vs. FC Meralco Manila (Panaad Park and Stadium)

BACOLOD- FC Meralco Manila will look to make it three wins in a row when they tackle Ceres Negros here on Wednesday afternoon in Panaad stadium.

League-leading Manila will look to exorcise the ghosts of their last meeting against the Busmen, a nightmarish 7-0 loss last July 15 in Rizal Memorial Stadium. That setback was the very first of the Philippines Football League season for Meralco.

Ceres may be fourth in the table, eight adrift of leaders Manila, but they do have four matches in hand. Negros will also be buoyed by their 2-0 win against Singaporean team Home United last week in Panaad in the AFC Cup. That triumph sealed a 3-2 aggregate win in their ASEAN Zonal final and puts them in the AFC Cup East Zone semis against Istiklol of Tajikistan, a series that begins on August 22.

The Negrenses also had enough energy to defeat Kaya 3-2 in Umak last Saturday.

But Meralco also beat Kaya then topped Stallion 3-2 last Saturday. In that match Connor Tacagni was a revelation with two header goals in the first half, the first scores of the season for him.
Ceres will play the match sans midfield engine Manny Ott, who is suspended on accumulated yellow cards.
