Filipino football club Ceres Negros FC found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreboard against Tajikistan’s Istiklol FC in the first leg of their 2017 AFC Cup Inter-Zonal Semifinals matchup, Tuesday evening at the Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, Tajikistan.
A 25th minute penalty opened things up for the Dushanbe-based squad, courtesy of Akhtam Nazarov, while Romish Jalilov doubled the Istiklol’s lead at the 45-minute mark of the match.
The Pinoy side started strong in the second half, but eventually, Manuchekhr Dzalilov took over for the six-time Tajik Cup champions, scoring a brace in the 67th and 88th minutes to push Istiklol’s lead to four goals.
The Inter-Zonal semis series shifts to the Panaad Park and Stadium for the second leg, where the Pinoy side will have a mountain of a deficit to overcome.
The second leg takes place on Tuesday, September 12th.
