The Associated Press - Sevilla is hiring Vincenzo Montella as coach, a month after the Italian was fired by AC Milan.
Sevilla said on Thursday it reached a deal in principle with Montella for a contract through June 2019.
Montella will finalize the terms of his departure from Milan on Friday, before travelling to Seville to sign his new contract that evening.
Montella will meet his new players on Saturday before being presented to the media.
His first match in charge will be on Wednesday, against second-division Cadiz in the Copa del Rey.
Montella is succeeding Eduardo Berizzo at Sevilla, which is fifth in the Spanish standings and in the last 16 of the Champions League, where it will face Manchester United.
The 43-year-old Montella was fired by Milan at the end of November after only six wins in 14 league matches despite the club spending more than 200 million euros (nearly $250 million) on new players in the offseason.
Montella was hired in June 2016 and led Milan to sixth place and a Europa League spot last season — ending a drought of three years without playing in continental competition.
Montella's biggest achievement with Milan was winning the Italian Super Cup over Juventus in a penalty shootout in December 2016.
The 48-year-old Berizzo was fired last week, shortly after the Argentine coach returned from treatment for prostate cancer.
The Spanish club said his firing was due to bad results.
Berizzo joined the club in the offseason after impressing at Celta Vigo.
