College of Saint Benilde and Arellano University open their NCAA men's football finals series, Friday evening.
Top-seeded College of Saint Benilde and second-seeded Arellano University begin their battle for NCAA football supremacy, as they face off in match one of their best-of-three finals series for the NCAA Season 93 men's football title, Friday evening at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
The Blazers are coming off a thrilling 1-0 win in their do-or-die matchup against defending champions San Beda College.
Substitute defender Wilmer Lopez scored the difference-making goal in the 85th minute, ultimately dethroning the Red Lions.
With their last NCAA men's football title coming way back in the 2009-2010 season, the Taft-based side will be looking to snap a seven-year title drought.
Standing on the other side of the pitch will be Arellano, who's had more time to prepare after needing just one game to dispatch Lyceum of the Philippines, 3-1, in their semifinals meeting Monday afternoon.
Charles Gamutan, Robert Corsame Jr., and Patrick Bernate all scored goals for the Chiefs, who are looking for just their second NCAA men's football title in school history.
Their first taste of NCAA men's football gold came just two seasons ago when they dethroned then five-peat champs San Beda in the finals.
Kickoff time is at 6:00 PM.
Over in the juniors division, defending champions San Beda College-Rizal will look to move one step closer to a repeat when they take on La Salle Greenhills in match one of their best-of-three series for the NCAA Juniors Football title.
Kickoff time is at 4:00 PM.
