Global Cebu FC managed to salvage a 3-3 draw against FLC Thanh Hoa, Wednesday evening in Manila.
Two Filipino clubs saw action in the 2018 AFC Cup Group Stages, Wednesday evening, with both getting favorable results as Ceres Negros FC dominated Cambodia's Boeung Ket Angkor, 4-0, at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, while Global Cebu FC salvaged a 3-3 draw with Vietnam's FLC Thanh Hoa at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Bienve Marañon stole the show over at Phnom Penh as the Spanish striker recorded a hat trick, while Takumi Uesato added a goal of his own to lead the Bacolod-based club to their fourth win in five matches.
Ceres Negros improves to 13 points off four wins and a draw to win Group F and clinch a spot in the Zonal Semifinals.
The Pinoy side wraps up the Group Stage against Singaporean side Home United at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod on April 25th.
Things were certainly more dramatic over in Manila, as Global Cebu mounted a comeback from two goals down, capped off by a game-saving goal from Darryl Roberts in the final minute of regulation.
The visitors got on the board really early in the match, with Edward Ofere scoring in just the second minute of action.
Rufo responded quickly for Global Cebu with an equalizer just four minutes later.
Thanh Hoa regained the lead in the 25th minute courtesy of Le Thanh Binh, followed by a Dinh Tung conversion in the second half to make it 3-1.
When it looked as if all was lost for the Pinoy side with less than ten minutes to go, Wesley Dos Santos pulled one back in the 82nd minute to cut the lead to just one goal, before Roberts came up with the last-minute equalizer.
With the draw, Global Cebu improves to five points off a win, two draws and two losses. While they've been eliminated from Zonal Semifinals contention, Global Cebu can still finish as runners up in Group G with a Group Stage-closing win over Bali United on April 25th.
