Rufo scored twice to help Global Cebu FC end the 2018 AFC Asian Cup Group Stage on a high note.
Global Cebu FC scored a win, while Ceres Negros FC took a tumble to end their respective 2018 AFC Cup Group Stage campaigns, Wednesday evening.
Over at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gainyar, Bali, Spanish striker Rufo scored twice to help lead Global Cebu past home team Bali United, 3-1.
It took Rufo only two minutes to get things going in for the visitors as he immediately put Global on the board.
There was no looking back from there, as Paul Mulders scored a goal of his own in the 33rd minute before Rufo struck once more before the half for a 3-0 advantage.
Nick van der Velden helped Bali United avoid the shutout as he pulled one back for the home team in the 71st minute.
With the win, Global Cebu ends the Group Stage with eight points on two wins, two draws, and two losses, good for second in Group G.
Unfortunately for Global, only the winner of Group G, Yangon United, qualifies for the Zonal Semfinals.
Over at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod, Ceres Negros relinquished the top seed in Group F after falling to Singaporean club Home United, 0-2.
Izzdin Shafiq found the back of the net in the 80th minute, while So Ui-young iced the match with a made penalty in the fourth minute of injury time.
With the win, Home United overtakes Ceres Negros for the top seed in Group F, with both finishing with 13 points, but the Singaporean side ahead on goal difference.
Fortunately for Ceres Negros, the top two seeds of the group will advance to the Zonal Semifinals.
The Bacolod-based side now faces Group G winners Yangon United in the ASEAN Zone Semifinals on May 9th in Bacolod and May 16th in Yangon.
