Filipino kids will have the golden opportunity to learn from coaches from Real Madrid Foundation
With the 2018 World Cup in full swing, the Philippine Football Federation believes it is high time for Filipinos, especially the youth, to take to the pitch.
That is exactly why right in the middle of the world’s biggest sporting event, the PFF has thrown its weight behind a football clinic organized by YKK, the world-renowned maker zippers.
“This is an opportune time to have the clinic because the World Cup is happening. This month is a celebration of world football and we will take part in that with this event,” PFF secretary-general Atty. Edwin Gastanes said in the pre-event press conference of the 2018 YKK Asia Group Kids Football Clinic (AKFC) on Friday at the Shang The Fort in Taguig.
The YKK AKFC, now in its 12th year, is a three-day clinic where underprivileged children will learn tips and tricks in football. “Our mission is to promote health and fitness among kids. We chose football because it is the common language of the world,” company AVP Agustin Villarama said.
Along with choosing football, the organizer has also chosen one of the top teams in the sport to partner with in Real Madrid.
For its part, RMF said that it is nothing but honored to be part of the program. As Pablo Gomez Revenga, a director of the organization, put it, “This program allows us to reach all corners of the world. We have successfully partnered with (YKK) since 2012 and have had incredible and positive experiences from the Asian countries where the events have been held.”
He then continued, “Watching the local coaches and children engage and participate in a sport which knows no language or social barriers is the ultimate reward.”
The 2018 YKK AFC commences with the coaches’ clinic on Friday and will continue with the kids’ clinic from Saturday to Sunday. All activities will be held at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig.
