The PFF has released a statement regarding newly-appointed head coach Terry Butcher's sudden withdrawal from the position.
The Philippine Football Federation has released a statement following the unexpected withdrawal of Terry Butcher as the head coach of the Philippine Azkals.
Butcher announced his resignation Friday morning, Manila time, just less than two months after he was introduced.
According to the PFF, they accept and understand Butcher's decisions, and will continue preparations for the upcoming 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup and the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
"The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) accepts with understanding the announcement of Coach Terry Butcher not to proceed as head coach of the National Team of the Philippines.
We wish Mr. Butcher good luck.
The PFF will continue with the necessary team preparations for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 this November and the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 in January 2019."
Butcher's sudden exit comes just as the Azkals were about to begin their preparations for the upcoming tournaments.
The Azkals are scheduled to have a pair of international friendlies in Bahrain, against a Bahraini club team and the country's national team.
The friendlies would have marked Butcher's debut for the Azkals.
