Back to work.
The Philippine Men's National Football team returns to action when they take on the Bahrain Men's National Football Team for an international friendly match this Thursday, September 6th (12:00 midnight, September 7th.) in Bahrain.
It will be the Azkals' first taste of action since defeating Tajikistan back in March to clinch a spot in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
The friendly marks a brand new chapter for the Philippine side, as it marks the coaching debut of Scott Cooper, who was elevated to head coach from a consultancy position following the sudden exit of Terry Butcher. It also marks the start of what will be a crucial strech for the Azkals as they prepare for their campaigns in the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup beginning in November, as well as the 2019 AFC Asian Cup which kicks off in January.
Bannering the Azkals for their Bahrain training camp will be team captain and all-time leading scorer Phil Younghusband, star goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, and the returning Stephan Schrock.
Bahrain is a familiar opponent for the Azkals, crossed paths four times since 2015.
Unfortunatel for the Azkals, they've only managed to win once in those past four meetings.
