The Philippines scored back-to-back wins to start their campaign in the 2019 AFC Women's U16 Championship qualifiers to grab an early lead in Group E.

The Filipinas kicked off the tournament with a 4-0 drubbing of Nepal, Wednesday in Kathmandu.

Maria Lazo spearheaded the Philippine attack with a brace, while Keane Alamo and Mikaela Villacin chipped in with a goal each.

The Philippines followed that up with a 1-0 victory over Malaysia, Friday afternoon.

An 81st-minute strike from Alamo sealed the deal for the Filipinas for their second win in the tournament.

The Philippines will wrap up the first round with a match against Myanmar on Sunday, September 23rd.

A win or a draw for the Philippines will secure their entry into the second round of the qualifiers.
