Azkals outlast Timor-Leste for second Suzuki Cup win
Phil Younghusband scored his 52nd international goal in the win over Timor-Leste.

The Philippine Azkals survived a spirited fightback to defeat Timor-Leste, 3-2, to pick up their second win in the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup, Saturday evening in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Skipper Phil Younghusdband opened the scoring for the Pinoy side as he recieved a Stephan Schrock cross inside the box and blasted it in for his 52nd career international goal in the 27th minute of action.

Five minutes later, Martin Steuble doubled the lead with a long-range conversion from outside the box for a 2-0 lead at the half.

More dominance from the Filipinos to begin the  second half as Carlie De Murga joined the scoring party with a header in the 68th minute.

With time running out, Timor-Leste tried to mount a comeback, beginning with Nathaniel Reis pulling one back in the 73rd minute via a penalty kick conversion.

Two minutes later, Timor-Leste struck again, this time courtesy of Joao Pedro.

Timor-Leste's rally would ultimately fall short, as the Azkals managed to hold on for the victory.

The Azkals enjoy their second win in as many matches, as they join Thailand, which defeated Indonesia, at the top of the Group B standings with six points each.

Up next for the Azkals is a home game back in Bacolod on Wednesday against Thailand in a match that could prove pivotal in terms of the top two spots in the group.
