The Philippine Men's National Football Team returns to the pitch with hopes of snagging their first win as they continue on their journey in their historic first-ever AFC Asian Cup campaign.
Up next for the Philippine Azkals will be a matchup with China PR, who are ranked 76th in the world.
The Azkals are coming off a valiant effort that saw them nearly hold tournament favorites South Korea - the highest-ranked squad in Group C - to a scoreless draw. Unfortunately for the Pinoy side, a second-half conversion from Hwang Uijo gave the South Koreans a 1-0 victory.
After proving their mettle against South Korea, the Azkals now try to keep their confidence and their momentum going as they meet another tough side in China, who are coming off a 2-1 win over Kyrgyzstan in their tournament opener.
The Azkals will once again look to Stephan Schrock and Javier Patiño to lead the charge as they try to get three points and keep their Asian Cup campaign alive.
China, meanwhile, will be looking to strikers Wu Lei and Yu Dabao to help get another win and secure a spot in the next round.
The last time that these two sides met was in an international friendly match back in June of 2017, with China coming away with the 8-1 victory.
The two sides meet once again at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, 9:30 PM (Manila Time)
