DLSU stars headline women's national team second round of 2020 Asian Olympics Qualifiers

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Women’s National Team is inching closer towards the dream of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as they compete in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Asian Qualifiers Round 2 in Doha, Qatar from 3-9 April 2019
The team will face IR Iran, Chinese Taipei, and Palestine in Group C.
In the first round held in Tajikistan last November 2018, the Philippines finished second in Group A with wins over Singapore (9-0), Tajikistan (3-1) and, Mongolia (5-1), while yielding a loss against Chinese Taipei (5-0).
“We wish the Philippine Women’s National Football Team the best of luck as they embark on round of Olympic Qualifiers in the Asian region,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes.”
Women’s football has come a long way and we hope the team builds on this ahead of the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games this November.
