Schrock scores as Ceres Negros inches closer to AFC Champions League berth

Filipino football club Ceres Negros FC moves one step closer to a spot in the 2020 AFC Champions League after posting a 1-0 victory over Thailand's Port FC in their Preliminary Round 2 matchup, Tuesday evening at the PAT Stadium in Bangkok.
Filipino-German midfielder Stephan Schrock's 51st minute goal off a corner was the difference-maker, as the visiting Pinoy side grabbed control of the match early in the second half and never looked back.
This result comes a week after the Pinoys survived a thrilling 3-2 victory over Myanmar's Shan United in the first round or preliminary action in Manila.

The winner of that match secures a spot in Group F of the 2020 AFC Champions League Group Stage, alongside South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai, China's Shanghai Shenhua, and Australia's Perth Glory. A win for Ceres Negros will prove to be historic, as it would make them the first Filipino club to ever participate in the AFC Champions League.
