MANILA, Philippines – Summer gets even hotter as many of today’s biggest names in Philippine sports bared some skin in a sexy photo shoot for local fashion and lifestyle magazine Metro.

Aptly for the Metro’s annual “Body Special,” some of the most looked-up-to men and women in the national team, PBA, UAAP, and PSL, among others, bannered a special summer escape-themed feature in the magazine that only showcased their beautiful physiques.

Featured sportsmen from the PBA were Meralco Bolts’ Sean Anthony, Jared Dillinger, and Mike Cortez; Barako Bulls Energy’s Sol Mercado; Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ Gabe Norwood; and San Miguel Beermen’s Chris Ross. PBA courtside reporter-actress Erika Padilla starred as the cagers’ muse in the feature.

Meanwhile, from the UAAP were Ateneo Lady Eagles’ Alyssa Valdez; UST Growling Tigers’ Kim Lo; Blue Eagle alumnus and now PBA D-League’s Happy Fresh Spiders forward Chris Newsome; and collegiate players-turned-celebrity athletes Gretchen Ho and Michele Gumabao.

Tennis player Maika Tampoco; sports multi-hyphenate Amanda Fernandez; and equestrienne Michelle Barrera, all sports beauties, also appeared in the same star-studded feature.

The feature is pegged to “pay tribute to the athlete” and their athleticism, as “no one considers the body more sacred than an athlete does—taking care of it like a monument of power and a weapon of heroism.”

Wearing summer pieces from international fashion brand H&M, the featured athletes also shared inside their respective success stories that met their sports journeys. They also gave helpful advice on staying in shape.

Metro’s feature on your favorite local sports stars appears in its May Issue. Metro is available in major bookstores and on newsstands for P150. Like Metro on Facebook ( and follow Metro on Twitter and Instagram (@MetroMagPH).
