Martinez rules Asian Open Figure Skating tourney

Filipino ice skater Michael Christian Martinez once again brought pride to the nation after winning a gold medal in the 2015 Asian Open Figure Skating tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 18-year-old Olympian won in the Senior Men category with a total score of 188.53.
Martinez, who participated in the Sochi Winter Olympics last year, outshone Japanese competitor Keiji Tanaka (182.70).
Martinez tallied 72.14 in the short program and 116.39 in free skating program to best Tanaka’s 121.06 points on free skating and 61.64 points in the short program.
Another Japanese Hiroaki Sato took the bronze medal with 145.89 points.
