Two runners die after collapsing in a marathon

Messages of sympathy and condolence from runners who joined the event were posted on different social media platforms for Major Arnold Lubang (left) and Manases Alfon Jr. who died after collapsing in the middle of the race.
Running enthusiasts and organizers of the Condura Skyway Marathon expressed sympathy to the families and friends of two runners who collapsed and died Sunday during the 2016 edition of the running event.
Manases Alfon Jr., 38, from Cebu who joined the full marathon and Philippine Army Major Arnold Lubang, a member of Philippine Army Class 2000, who ran in the 21 kilometer half marathon were seen and helped by other runners when they collapsed during the annual race held at the Skyway.
Messages of sympathy and condolences from runners who joined the event were posted in different social media platforms for the two marathoners.
An estimated 20,000 runners joined the eighth edition of the event where a portion of the race fees will be donated to the Hero Foundation for the benefit of the children of fallen soldiers.
