Softball supremacy just continues for the Adamson University Lady Falcons.
Fresh from their 6-peat in the UAAP Season 78 Softball Tournament, Adamson University made it a double celebration by capturing both championship titles in the women’s division of the 10th Summer Grand Slam Tournament at the Batangas Sports Complex.
The Lady Falcons outlasted the University of the Philippines, 7-6, in the women’s Open finals while their sister teams made it an all-Adamson finals in the women’s Club group, with AdU-C besting AdU-B, 8-7, for the title.
In the other championship matches, the Philippine Air Force batters defended their men's Open title at the expense of the visiting Indonesian squad, 9-2. In the men’s Club group, the San Antonio Bobcats pulled-off a 5-4 victory over Rizal Technological University to claim back-to-back championships.
"The tenth year of the Summer Grand Slam has been nothing short of exhilarating. While some did better than the others, every team stepped up their game and delivered their best performance. The high level of competition this year was an excellent way to celebrate a decade of this tournament. I'm looking forward to supporting softball in the Philippines and to empowering more athletes in the coming years," said ASAPHIL president Jean Henri Lhuillier.
This year, close to 50 softball squads, including visiting teams from Indonesia and Malaysia, saw action in the tournament.
