Australia drops RP Blu Girls in the world softball tilt
The Philippines lost to third-ranked Australia in a blowout, 1-11.

Stuck in a division that can only be described as the "Group of Death", the Cebuana-Lhuiller backed RP Blu Girls dropped their opening match in the championship round of the Women's World Softball Championships in Canada.

The Philippines lost to third-ranked Australia in a blowout, 1-11.

Playing in Group 2, the RP Blue Girls, perennial winners in Southeast Asia, are matched up with Australia, second-ranked USA, and world no. 6 China in a round robin format.

Despite the tough bracket, the Philippines is not about to surrender in the 31-nation tournament.

“It’s unfortunate that we have been included in the bracket of all powerhouse teams but this will not stop our girls from playing their hearts out and trying to pull off an upset. The experiences of playing against these top teams will go a long way to our goal of qualifying and contending for a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” said ASAPHIL president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

The RP Blu Girls will try to bounce back against China on Thursday before wrapping up their schedule vs. the United States on Friday.
