A hero's welcome isn't just what's in store for Hidilyn Diaz when she gets home.
Aside from the P5 million the Olympic silver medalist is set to receive through the Philippine Incentives Act, Diaz will also receive an additional P500,000 from the Zamgboanga City government and a house and lot from Deca Homes tomorrow.
PSC Chairman Butch Ramirez will be present on behalf of Diaz at the contract signing of her new home, sources said, as the 25-year old will go straight to her hometown Zamboanga after her courtesy call later tonight with President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao.
Diaz has recently shared her plans with her incentive.
"Bibili ako ng lupa sa side ng bahay namin," Diaz said, "Iyon ang naging motivation ko para kunin ang medal," she revealed in a phone interview with ABS-CBN News' Dyan Castillejo.
And all the blessings couldn't have come at a better time.
Hidilyn's mother, Emelita celebrated her birthday last August 7, a few hours before Diaz bagged the silver medal for weightlifting and lifting the 20-year curse that has plagued Philippine Olympians.
