Filipina table tennis player Josephine Medina scored the Philippines' first Rio 2016 Paralympics, taking home the bronze medal in Table Tennis, Tuesday morning Manila time.
Medina fell to eventual silver medalist Thu Kamkasomphou of France in the semifinals, but bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating Germany's Juliane Wolf in three sets.
Medina's Paralympics bronze medal is the Philippines' first, since powerlifter Adeline Dumapong won bronze back in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
The 46-year old Medina, a polio victim, just missed a podium finish back in the 2012 Paralympics, but bounced back in a big way, winning gold in the 2015 ASEAN Para Games in Singapore.
