Following the footsteps of fellow Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace Meggie Ochoa who gave the Philippines its' first gold medal at the 2016 Asian Beach Games in Da Nang, Vietnam, Pinay BJJ purple belt Annie Ramirez secured the country's second gold medal by coming out on top of the ne-waza women's 55-kg division.
The 25-year old Ramirez bested Thailand's Siramol Deepudsa, 10-0 in the final to push the Philippines' medal tally to 13, five of which coming from the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team.
Also adding a medal for Team Philippines is Olympian Marestella Torres-Sunang, who's coming off a stint in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Sunang took home a bronze medal in the women's long jump competition.
