World’s best duathletes converge for Maybank Powerman 2016
Around 650 duathletes gathered over the weekend for the biggest and only international duathlon event of the country.

The world’s best duathletes converged for Maybank Powerman Duathlon World Series 2016 last Sunday, December 4.

Two-time Powerman World Champion and Powerman Philippines Ambassador Gael Le Bellec from France topped the Male Elite category after finishing a 10 km run, 60 km bike, and another 10 km run with a time of 02:43:27, while three-time and defending Powerman World Champion Emma Pooley of Great Britain finished with a time of 02:56:31 to take the first spot in the Female Elite category.

Thomas Bruins and Miriam van Reijen from Netherlands took the second spot in their respective categories with a time of 02:36:29 and 02:37:04. Defending world champion Seppe Odeyn of Belgium took the final podium spot with a time of 2:37:04, while Monica Torres bannered the Philippines and came in third with a time of 03:02:02.

Andy Sutz of Switzerland came in fourth, followed by Filipinos John Chicano, Joey Demos Reyes, and Cipriane Topia.

Alex McDougall from Australia and Airi Sawada from Japan came in fourth and fifth, while Mirasol Abad and Michelle Gilbuena from the Philippines and Mandana Manshani from Iran followed.

Around 650 participants from different countries and age groups gathered over the weekend for the biggest and only international duathlon event of the country.
