Filipino-American winger Jason Robertson was selected by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the National Hockey League Entry Draft last weekend.
Extremely excited and proud to be a part of the @DallasStars, a first class organization and I can't wait to get started!— Jason Robertson (@JasonRob1999) June 24, 2017
With five picks in the draft, the Stars took Robertson the earliest as the 39th overall selection.
Robertson played for the junior ice hockey team Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League.
The 17-year-old spent ten years living in Los Angeles before moving to Northville, Michigan.
Robertson will be the second Filipino in the NHL, joining Filipino-Canadian Matthew Dumba, the seventh overall pick of the Minnesota Wild back in 2012.
