Pasic RTC rules 2016 Philippine Olympic Committee as null and void, favoring the election case filed by Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines president Ricky Vargas.
The Pasig Regional Trial Court favored the election case filed by boxing president Ricky Vargas with its decision Wednesday, ruling the 2016 Philippine Olympic Committee as ‘null and void.’
According to the decision, the ‘elections of POC last Nov. 25, 2016 for Chairman and President is null and void.”
“Finally we have obtained justice,” said Vargas the Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines chief and PBA chairman.
Vargas tried to run for POC president but he and his running mate Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines president Rep. Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino were disqualified to run in the POC election held November last year for lacking active participation in the POC’s assembly.
Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco ran unopposed to win his fourth term as POC president while Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. to brass Joey Romsanta was elected 1st vice president. All other candidates under Cojuangco’s ticket won.
A new election is set to be held on February 23 next year with Vargas and Tolentino to be allowed to run for office.
Vargas’ camp filed for a temporary restraining order from the same court last year against the POC election but was denied.
