Filipino Olympian Ian Lariba says her leukemia has recurred and is appealing for assistance and prayers, now that she's undergoing another round of chemotherapy.

In a Tweet shared by DLSU Sports, the table tennis star said that the symptoms surfaced early January with “episodes of headache and vomiting”, prompting her to revisit the hospital.

“Workup revealed that my leukemia recurred and has spread to my brain and spinal cord,” she bared.

She then revealed that she started experiencing blurring vision and weakness on the left side of her body and will be in need of blood transfusion.

The former DLSU paddler ended her message by appealing for assistance and prayers amid her worsening condition.

“I appeal to your kind hearts for any assistance that you can give to help me with my fight against this disease,” she said. “I also humbly ask for your prayers so I may overcome this challenge.”

"Those interested to provide financial assistance may send their donations to IAN N. LARIBA, BDO savings account number: 0045-8045-9965, Vito Cruz, Taft branch," the Tweet said.

Lariba was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia last May 2017, and since then, she has underwent chemotherapy. Last October 7, she underwent bone marrow transplant after finding a donor in her sister Yen.

Last year, UAAP and DLSU athletes started the hashtag #KayaMoYan, and #LabanLaSalleYan to spread the plea for blood and prayers for the former Lady Archer paddler, who completed her UAAP service for the green and white undefeated.
