Filipino figure skater Michael Christian Martinez expressed his gratitude to all his supporters who rallied and prayed for him in his short journey in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Martinez fell out of the top 24, settling for 28th place among 30 of the world's best figure skaters, to bow out of contention in the preliminaries Friday afternoon.
Still, the 21-year-old Pinoy skating gem held his head high for having another chance to represent the island country in such a grand stage.
Martinez, who finished 19th place overall in his first Olympics back in Sochi, Russia back in 2014 when he was just 17, also captured the hearts of many Filipinos for elevating the awareness of the sport in a tropical country.
Filipino-American alpine skier Asa Miller will now be the lone competing member of the Pinoy contingent in Pyeongchang, and he is set to hit the slopes this February 18.
