The Philippine contingent's Asian Games 2018 campaign was kickstarted Sunday afternoon after the Philippine national women's golf squad delivered two gold medals and a bronze.
Yuka Saso won the women's individual gold while the squad, made up of Saso, Kaye Louis Go, and Bianca Pagdanganan added another gold after weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz delivered the first last August 21. Pagdanganan also clamined the bronze in women's individual golf.
Filipina athletes are delivering in Indonesia, with nine out of 13 medals for the nation so far won by Pinays, including the three golds.
With the wins, they have already ensured a better finish for the Filipinos in the quadrennial meet compared to their performance in Incheon, South Korea in 2014. The Philippines only won one gold to go along with three silver medals and 11 bronze medals back in 2014.
Pauline Lopez finished third in women's taekwondo, while Juvenile Faye Crisostomo, Janna Oliva, Rinna Babanto also bagged bronze in women's poomsae.
Meanwhile Agatha Wong and Divine Wally finished third in the women's taijiquan and women's sanda in the wushu competition, respectively.
Rounding out the Pinay medalists so far is Margarita Ochoa, who won bronze in the women's ne-waza leg of jiu-jitsu.
