ASIAN GAMES: Sprinters Knott, Beram qualify for semis
Kristina Marie Knott posted a season best time of 23.45 seconds in the women's 200 meters while Trenten Anthony Beram registered a time of a time of 21.12 seconds in the men's 200 meters.
JAKARTA — Sprinter Kristina Marie Knott posted a season best time of 23.45 seconds in finishing third in the second heat of the women’s 200m on Tuesday that sent her to the semifinals of the athletics competition of the 18th Asian Games at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

The 23-year-old Creative Writing graduate from the University of Miami in United States blazed her way in Lane 5 to improve on her previous season best of 23.65. Her personal best is 23.23.  

China’s Lingwei Kong won the heat in 23.41 seconds followed by Olga Safronova of Kazakshtan with 23.44 seconds.

Trenten Anthony Beram, meanwhile, also placed third in the first round of the men's 200m Round 1 with a time of 21.12 seconds to qualify for the semifinals set in the evening. Beram’s personal best is 20.84 seconds and his season best time is 20.96 seconds.
