The Philippines had a haul of five silver medals and five bronze medals in the 2014 Incheon Games. The country has never won gold in the Para Games and that's the ultimate goal in Jakarta this year.
"[Goal] in the competition is to win a medal, sana gold medal," leading powerlifting bet Adeline Ancheta said.
"Sabi nga nila, we always look for the best result. Kung umpisa pa lang wala na, pupunta lang ako dun just to participate, I don't think that's fair to the Filipino people na sumusuporta samin," she added.
With more attention and support, the Filipino Para Atlethes are looking to put on a strong showing in Jakarta.
"Para sa mga kasama ko na maco-compete, laban lang," Ancheta said.
"Ipakita natin na karapat-dapat tayo sa suporta at patunayan nati sa sarili natin at sa sambayanang Pilipino na kaya natin," she added.
