Diaz grabs gold in World Cup

Hidilyn Diaz boosted her bid to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after ruling the women’s 55-kilogram event in the Rome 2020 Weightlifting World Cup in Italy.
The 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist lifted 93 kg in snatch and 119 kg in clean and jerk for a total lift of 212 kg to take the top spot in the podium.
Ukraine’s Kamila Konotop took the silver medal with 196 (90 in snatch, 106 in clean and jerk) while Tunisian bet Nouha Landoulsi got the bronze with 194 (86 in snatch, 108 in clean and jerk).
Diaz is currently ranked fourth in her weight category.
Up next for the 2018 Asian Games and 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medal winner is a stint in the IWF Asian Championships in Kazakhstan on April 16-25.
