The Jordan Clarkson situation for Gilas Pilipinas remains tricky.
With the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China fast approaching, the Philippines should already have a clear picture on whether or not Clarkson can play as a local.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case and as Gilas prepares for the World Championships with Andray Blatche as the main naturalized player, Clarkson can only wait and stay ready just in case.
“I’m just staying ready,” Clarkson tol d Steve Angeles of ABS-CBN’s North Amerian bureau.
“Just working. If I get the opportunity, it’ll happen. If not, it is what it is and I’ll have to suit up another time,” Clarkson added.
#FIBAWorldCup is next month, and while Gilas is going with Blatche as it’s naturalized, @JordanClarksons is still patient and ready in case his eligibility issues clear up or if there are other changes. #laban ???????????? @ABSCBNNews @abscbnsports @ABSCBNNewsSport @balitangamerica pic.twitter.com/BquHgfzP8T— Steve Angeles (@StevieAngeles) July 28, 2019
The Cleveland Cavalier has only played for Gilas Pilipinas once and that was in the 2018 Asian Games where the national team finished 5th.
Clarkson is yet to play for Gilas in a true FIBA tournament.
