Since coming back from its Spain training camp, the difference in practice has been evident for Gilas Pilipinas.
The national team has strengthened its chemistry and the overall flow of offense is better.
Back in Manila for the most vital stretch of its World Cup prep, Gilas is getting better day-by-day.
“We’re doing well. Some of you guys are witness to our practices, we’re moving a lot better now,” head coach Yeng Guiao said as he addressed the media following the team’s first practice this week.
“We’re getting the chemistry, the cohesion. The Spain camp was good for us, I think that’s a big contributor to our preparations,” he added.
Gilas still has things to improve on however, it’s not all wins for the national team.
For one, Gilas has to get healthy. Second, all members, not just the designated shooters, need to work on their outside shots.
Perimeter play will be key for the Philippines in the World Cup.
“Ganda na ng pina-practice namin. Last three days na practice namin, talagang go hard kami. Maganda na chemistry ng team and medyo fluid na yung offense and defense,” forward Poy Erram said.
“We’re try to continue on that and improve more individually sa shooting namin. Kailangan mag-improve yung outside shootig namin para di kami mahirapan pagdating sa World Cup,” he added.
