On Tuesday, San Miguel Beer had a victory party to celebrate winning the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Also on Tuesday, Gilas Pilipinas had practice in preparation for the 2019 FIBA World Cup, which is happening in less than two weeks.
After missing weeks of national team training due to the PBA Finals, star center June Mar Fajardo had to rejoin Gilas Pilipinas already.
He can party later but now, Gilas is calling and he has to answer.
After a courtesy call to team management, the PBA’s reigning five-time league MVP got his Pilipinas jersey on and went to work.
“Duty call. Priority yung Gilas ngayon so naintindihan naman ng mga boss sa San Miguel,” June Mar said.
“Nagpaalam naman ako sa San Miguel na may practice, sabi ko di na ako sasali sa party. Naiintindihan naman ng management so okay lang sa kanila,” he added.
Fajardo is drained after a grueling PBA playoffs but he has to power through as Gilas Pilipinas needs him.
June Mar can rest when he’s done.
“Syempre nakaka-pagod rin... hindi rin naman ganoong kadali ang pinagdaanan namin sa last conference eh. Pagdating namin sa playoffs do or die talaga. Buti nakuha namin yung championship,” Fajardo said.
“Kailangan na naming mag-move on. Iba na yung priority. Gilas muna,“ he added.
